Patient Handbook

This 15-page handbook describes the rehabilitation of adults with moderate to severe traumatic brain injury and includes links to helpful resources for patients and their families. This document is based directly on the clinical practice guideline and was created with input from experts and people with lived experience.  With the help of this resource, patients will be able to better understand how, what and when care should be provided, streamlining visits with health care practitioners.

The patient handbook is divided into four sections. Each section contains a summary of the relevant guidelines as well as links to helpful resources for patients and their families:

         Section 1: Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation (Guideline section A, F)

         Section 2: Assessment and Recovery (Guideline sections C, E, H, I)

         Section 3: Road to Recovery (Guideline sections J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S)

         Section 4: Reintegration and Participation (Guideline section D)

 

Standards for TBI Rehabilitation

The standards tell people what they need to know about quality care for TBI and can help them advocate for the services they need. A more informed patient or family member can make sure they are getting the right care, from the right provider, at the right time.
